Synerion Names Norm MacFarlane Chief AI Officer to Accelerate AI-Driven Workforce Management

Norm MacFarlane as Synerion's Newest Chief AI Officer

TORONTO, ON — June 15th, 2026 — Synerion North America Inc., a leader in workforce management software and time-tracking hardware, today announced the appointment of Norm MacFarlane as Chief AI Officer (CAIO), in addition to his existing responsibilities of VP of Professional Services. In this newly created executive role, MacFarlane will lead Synerion’s enterprise-wide AI strategy, embedding intelligent automation across the company’s Agile and Enterprise software platforms and the customer experience that surrounds them.

The appointment signals Synerion’s commitment to embedding AI across its workforce management platform.

A strategic bet on practical AI

“Workforce management is one of the highest-leverage places to apply AI right now,” said Paolo Gilfillan, CEO of Synerion North America. “Every shift, punch, exception, and approval is a decision point. Most organizations are still making those decisions with spreadsheets and gut feel. Norm’s mandate is to change that. He’s earned this role by consistently turning AI from a slide-deck conversation into shipped product and real ROI for our customers.”

Under Norm’s leadership, Synerion will expand its AI roadmap to make these market demands a reality.

“Our customers don’t want AI for its own sake. They want fewer compliance headaches, more accurate pay, and managers who get answers in seconds instead of hours,” said MacFarlane. “That’s the bar. Everything we ship from this office has to clear it. We’re going to move fast, but we’re going to move responsibly. Every model we deploy will be auditable, every recommendation explainable, and every customer in control of their own data.”
